Virtual Audio Exhibit

The 27 percent white space in each photo represents the 27 percent wage gap women in Montana experience. In 2020, a woman worked until March 31 to earn what a man earned in the previous year. The gap is even great for most women of color.

Each woman featured in this exhibit is succeeding in a leadership role in male-dominated industries. Click the links below to hear their stories on achieving their dreams and the importance of gender equity.

This exhibit was originally part of a traveling poster display featured in more than 25 businesses and organizations around Montana. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project shifted to a digital display.

Belinda BullshoeMeet Belinda Bullshoe.

Belinda is a Blackfeet Nation fashion designer from Browning, Mont. who has shown her work on runways in Paris and New York.

"In our Native American culture, back when warriors went out and of course they went to war parties to war or whatever—it was the women who took care of the camp. They are the ones that put up the lodge, they are the ones that did cooking, and took care of everything. Even though they weren’t equal to men the strength was there. I feel sometimes men overlook the strength of women. In our culture they tell us that our women are our backbone to our men."
